First Impression: Video Streaming Apps have been a trend lately and most people are using it for entertainment, but there are some cases that these apps are being used to show graphic content that might not be suitable for young audiences.
Quote: "Smartphones have also become mini-TV's with larger and more high-definition screens."
Reflection
When it comes to Video Streaming Apps people acquire them fast. Not only they will be able to watch their favorite movies again but they can watch them whenever they want, wherever they want. That's what made video streaming apps popular. And with regard to it's ethics there are a lot of concerns like it's privacy and piracy, are there any laws for it's copyright, is anyone liable for sharing unpaid videos. There are a lot of blurred lines and I think it will take time before the government could figure out how they will handle this situation. But as of now they could count on instant fixes like taking down websites and live streams that are not pay per view. But this will cost them a lot of money too. So they would have to come up with something that would prevent these things from happening in that way they won't have to fix things after they have been pirated.
5 Things I've Learned
1. The trend of video streaming apps has nowhere to go but up.
2. FBI is focusing on more important issues of video streaming like child porn.
3. Copies of copyrighted materials are also illegal.
4. A company or website is only accountable for if it clearly encourages users to infringe a copyright.
5. The ethics of live streaming tragedies should be discussed.
5 Integrative Questions
1. Why is the trend of video streaming apps going up?
2. Why do the FBI need to focus on issues like video streaming of child porn?
3. What made the copies of copyrighted materials illegal?
4. When will a website be accountable for distributing unlicensed content?
5. Why should the ethics of live streaming tragedies be discussed?
