“Purchasing Twitter and Facebook Followers”

By: Isabel Eva Bohrer

Title:

“Social Thirst”

First Impression:

I don’t see any reason why do people need to purchase twitter and facebook followers. And I think it is really unethical especially if you’re joining a contest that needs to have a lot of followers in order to win. You could also be scammed because we don’t know where the sources are.

Quote:

“it is very misleading to those that you are meant to be engaging with.”

Reflection:

Having many followers in twitter and facebook means that you’re one of a kind or you’re popular. Obtaining a high number of followers is a landmark goal of many users. Getting those followers isn’t always easy though, because you need to follow them before they follow you and the last thing you’ll know after following is that you were being unfollowed already. Those are the trick in order to gain more followers. And now most users use social media as source of their business, and its more easier than going to a store to purchase anything. Now, you just need to search what you want over the internet and you’ll see a lot of results. Even if the followers are fake, the clout that comes with a high Twitter following is very much real. A boost in Twitter followers can transform a stand-up amateur into a professional comedian, a garage band into a rising star, a movie extra into fresh new talent, and a small business into an authoritative source. Individuals have even been hired for job positions as a result of their high Twitter following, since the number serves as a representation of how powerful your online word can be. It’s a lot easier to buy followers on Twitter than earn them. Gaining a real Twitter and Facebook following takes time and effort – you need to consistently be sharing great content, posting hilariously witty remarks, or broadcasting the latest news. There are a number of dangers associated with buying Twitter followers. Many of the sites that offer to sell you more Twitter followers are a scam – you may put up your hard earned cash and come away with absolutely nothing.

5 Things That I've learned:

  1. Don’t trust any unreliable sources because you could be scammed
  2. Be honest, don’t cheat
  3.
  4.
  5. Be true to yourself

5 Integrative Questions:

  1. Why do people need to purchase twitter and facebook followers?
  2. What are the ways to check if it is a scam or not?
  3. Why is it important to check if it comes from reliable sources?
  4. How can we determine if someone following us is not a real account?
  5. How can we warn people who keep on purchasing followers?
